We at FKR Group supply and install a wide range of window coverings including custom roman blinds. If you are in Brisbane and are in need of our expertise, we are happy to help you anytime at a friendly price.
Made from smooth designer fabrics, these window covers are best for bedrooms and living rooms and are great for bi-fold doors. They offer stylish looks and are very simple in their construction and to use. If your interior decor screams modern, choosing them is the ideal option.
What is the installation process?
There are two main ways to install them. The first is a recess fit, and the other is a face fit. A recess fit will sit inside your window while a face fit overlaps with the frame or architrave. Either way, a standard 1200 mm wide window will come with four brackets. We install two brackets near the edge of either inside or outside the frame depending on the type of installation. The other two brackets are spaced evenly between the frames. After that, we simply slot the window covers in and clip them into the brackets.
Do I need to be home during installation?
Installation is a quick job that does not take more than half an hour. It’s a straightforward installation that does not really require supervision. If you’re staying at home, feel free to watch the installation to see how it’s done. But if you have other errands to run, simply provide us with access to your property, let us know whether you’d like the control located on the left or the right, and you can leave the rest to us.

Frequently Asked Questions About Roman Blinds In Brisbane
Are they cheaper than curtains?
In most cases, this type of product does tend to be cheaper than curtains. They use less fabric material than curtains so manufacturing them is cheaper and easier. Both types of window covers each have their own unique benefits, but the first one holds the advantage of being more affordable.
Are they expensive?
These products are in the median range when it comes to cost. They’re more expensive than roller and vertical ones, but they’re cheaper compared to timber Venetians. Each kind offers a different aesthetic so it’s up to you to balance between cost and design.
Do these blinds look better in the recess?
Whether you prefer a recess or a face fit is up to you. A recess fit is ideal if you want a tidy finish that doesn’t extrude past your window sill. It also allows you to display items on your window sill even when the covers are closed. On the other hand, go outside the recess if you want better control of your light. A face fit installation will allow more light in when retracted, and likewise, block more light out when drawn.
How do I choose the right size?
How you measure depends on whether you want a recess or face fit. For a recess fit, simply measure the inside dimensions of your window. For a face fit, add approximately a 7 to 10cm allowance above and below your window, as well as on either side. Call us at 0412 872 822 or visit our website to take the guesswork out of measuring! FKR Group offers a fast FREE measure and quote.
Are they easy to fit?
Fitting these covers is simple and easy. You can ensure that your measurements are accurate by taking the width and height of your window three times to find an average. We recommend measuring once on either side and down in the centre, then on the top and bottom and across the middle. Or better yet, you can leave it to us to do the measuring for FREE!
What do you do when your covers are not wide enough?
There are a few available fixes for short covers but they won’t look as good as a well fitted one. In some cases, you may be able to fix a Roman blind that is not wide enough granted that the offset is little and it has a side hem. Unstitch the side hem and restitch the blind to a longer length. Otherwise, you can use drapes or a window shade to cover the areas where the covers fall short. Again, nothing beats a well fitted Roman blind so make sure to measure correctly or leave the fitting to the professionals.
Can you put them in the bathroom?
They are not ideal for bathroom use as they are made of fabric. In a tight space that is steamy and moist, fabric is highly susceptible to moulds and watermarks. Only use them if your bathroom is spacious and heavily ventilated. If you must insist on using them for bathroom use, go for one with a moisture-resistant fabric.
What fabric is the best?
You can practically choose any fabric for your Roman blind but know that some fabrics are better than others. We highly recommend faux silk or light taffeta as the flow of these cloths are ideal for crisp looking folds. Other fabrics to consider are damasks, jacquard fabrics, linens, and medium weight cotton.
Can you install them yourself?
As long as your window frame is level, simply measure and mark a spot 2 centimetres away from the edges of your frame and here’s where you’ll install the outside brackets. Then, space out the other two brackets evenly along the width of the frame. Slide the window covers into the brackets and clip them to place. However, if you’re not an experienced handyman, feel free to leave the installation to us.
